Stepping Stones:

Sobriety, Sanity, Stability, Serenity

Sessions to enhance your

12 Step Recovery

We stop drinking and walk onto the path of recovery…the walk of a lifetime. On this path, we sometimes pay attention, or we wander, or maybe we walk in circles. We walk alone, with others, or alone while we are with others. Perhaps at times, we are thriving and at other times we seem lost. But we keep walking and we stay sober. During this retreat, we will pay attention, noticing the stepping stones on which we stand–the ones that hold us today, that have held us in the past, and will lead us from each moment, each stepping stone to the next.

MEG GALLAGHER

I am a writer, spiritual retreat leader, certified life coach and personal development trainer. As a sober woman of God and member of AA for over 38 years, I consider it a great privilege to do this happy work, especially to design and lead 12 Step retreats and workshops. I love to share my enthusiasm for AA and spiritual life, as well as my experience, strength and hope on the path of recovery. What a gift it is to see retreat participants discover or re-discover the riches of the 12 Steps. I also lead personal development workshops at which I tap into the wisdom of recovery.

There are many ways to hold a retreat and I enjoy the process of putting it together, whether the theme is provided to me or if I am asked to create something special for a group. My retreats are often quite interactive and can include space for breakout sessions, quiet time, and 1:1 conversation.

BACKGROUND

I grew up on Staten Island and began a career in New York City right out of high school. Working in the investment banking industry, I made my way up to senior management. I enjoyed a long career as business administrator, event manager and marketing specialist in both the corporate and nonprofit worlds. In 1986, I joined A.A., and my path took a dramatic and rewarding turn, impacting every decision, relationship and aspect of my life. I now live on Maryland’s Eastern Shore with my husband, Patrick and our cat, Charlotte. Following the advice of a sponsor, I “always have a service job” and currently serve as Chair of the local A.A. Intergroup. I also serve as Planning Commissioner for the Town of Hillsboro and belong to the Wisdom Circle at The Retreat House, a contemplative community that offers spiritual direction.
